HV ANALYZER

The goal for this project was to develop a system that provided automated testing and data acquisition of a product. The system had to target multiple contact points on the product surface to conduct a sequence of testing. Testing consisted of electrically charging up to a specified voltage, holding for a specified period of time, and discharging back to zero. These tests would produce the necessary data metrics for continuous development of the product.
My scope of work for this project was the complete mechanical, electrical, and software design of the system.

A custom designed faraday enclosure contains the entire test bed surface inside.

A hepa fan filter unit is mounted at the top of the enclosure, and any outgassing would be exhausted through the port seen at the rear

A custom designed 6U power distribution unit was used to power all the devices for the system.

All cable connections were interconnected to bulkhead fittings from the rear of the power distribution unit (PDU), allowing for easy disconnect and PDU removal.

Product was positioned on a single axis ballscrew stage driven by a small 50W servo motor.

Once the product was in position, a pneumatic driven gantry housing electrical probes, comes down to make contact.

The software developed in Labwindows, a C based development platform, then begins the auto sequencing of the three tests. Data is then acquired, analyzed, and graphed.

Complete system control was provided through the user interface. This granted manual gantry toggling, as well as manual positioning commands for the motor.
